Hello, I received a lovely Citizen Eco Drive watch as a Christmas gift. In England, British Summer Time came into effect a couple of days ago. I happened to be up late on Saturday night, so eagerly stared at my watch at 1am, assuming it would jump forward to 2am. But nothing happened, so I ignored it. The next morning, it still had not advanced to the correct time.

I checked the radio signal, an it was not receiving anything. Today, I checked the signal again (in a different part of the house) and it told me the strength was 'high'. But it still had not updated. So I held in the lower button to (as far as I know) force a time update. It beeped, the second hand went to RX, it did nothing for a few minutes, then beeped again and carried on as before, still having not updated.

I can find plenty of things online about how to manually set the time and summertime, but this defeats the object of a radio-controlled watch! Surely having the watch auto-correct for summertime is the main advantage of such a watch. It knows what time zone I'm in (London) so it knows when summertime begins and ends.

Eco-Drive is a model range of watches manufactured and marketed worldwide by Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., powered primarily by light. As of 2007, the company estimated the drive system had eliminated the disposal of 10 million batteries in North America. Citizen introduced the Eco-Drive line to Asia, Latin America, and.

Any suggestions as to what's going on would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Paul. It is likely that your watch does not receive the signal from Frankfurt because of bad weather over Europe. Sunday and yesterday half of my many radiocontrolled watches were still on wintertime. One of them even this morning. My suggestion is to wait until night then place your watch out of window facing East and start the manual reception (lower button pressed for 5 secs).

Do not touch the watch during the reception, any movement will cause a failure. Alternatively if you have an open space near to you (park, etc.) you can attempt the reception during the day but always leaving the watch alone during the operation.

I just tried the manual reception outside. Again, the second hand went to RX then H, and then after about 8 minutes, went back to normal, but still showing the incorrect (winter) time. I live in Norfolk (England), with no hills to speak of at all, and a clear view of the sky. I made sure that where I placed the watch (in my garden) had a clear view of the south-east horizon (the direction of the transmitter in Mainflingen). I'll try again tonight - I know that radio signals travel better at night. When the watch receives a successful radio signal update for the 5 cities, the Daylight Saving Time setting is automatically updated, provided the user has not manually turned OFF overridden the Daylight Saving Time setting.

Precautions for setting the daylight savings time to ON/OFF When manually changing the Daylight Saving Time from OFF to ON to OFF, this engages the manual override built into the watch. This manual override precludes Daylight Saving Time from being automatically adjusted during the radio signal update. If this function is not desired, the only way to cancel the manual override is to do the all reset and 0-Positioning outlined. Hold Tight Blizzard Of 96 Rarity.

Kilovolt - Ooh yes, that weather looks nasty. But my £12 indoor/outdoor clock/thermometer/weather station updated perfectly! But I assume it's got a much larger antenna in there. And I've just tried leaving the watch next to that clock to see if there are magical reception properties in that area, but it did not update.

Xcel - I haven't (knowingly) ever reset the watch, but it was not brand new when I received it, so it may well have been reset as part of the refurbishment. I've gone ahead and done a manual setting of the summertime. Garublador - My watch also has an E650 movement. I wonder if poor reception is a common problem for this model in this area of Europe? When I get a bit more free time, I'll try a complete reset and see if it sorts everything out.

Thanks, everyone, for all your help on this! Garublador - My watch also has an E650 movement. I wonder if poor reception is a common problem for this model in this area of Europe? If the second hand goes to the H, M or L when you hit the bottom pusher that means the last sync was successful. The fact that you keep getting an H means you're getting good reception.

I was mostly in Scotland for my trip and my watch successfully synced in Edinburgh and Pitlochry, so I'd guess that you would have an easy time syncing in England. I guess I should say that when I got my watch, it was already DST here, so there's the possibility that my watch wasn't automatically setting DST from the get go. I remember having to set DST when I got to the UK, but I honestly can't say what, if anything, I had to do once I got back. I know it works correctly now, but I don't know if I had to 'fix' it or not.
