Issue Description: when they used the old workstations before the change, everything is good. VPN and remote desktop connection worked perfectly. However, after the change, staff reported the RDC (via VPN) had an issue that the Remote desktop window will freeze every a few minutes (of course after a successful login). When the remote desktop connection window freezes, basically they can not do anyting on the remote desktop.
They will have to close the window, then re-establish the remote desktop connection, though VPN is still connected. This issue seemed to happen randomly.
For example, if user kept moving mouse or typing keyboard on the remote desktop, then it will not freeze; once user left it idle for a few minuts, then it will freeze somehow. It also has different performance on different machines. On some host PCs, the RDC window can stay alive for a quite long time. Latest Rfx Game Airport Mania Setup Cracker. On some host PCs, it could freeze every 2 or 3 minutes. What I tried: • in the RDC options, I disabled remote audio ('do not play'), this makes some host computers have less chances of this issue, but on others this issue still happen frequently • in the office, if I simpy make a remote desktop connection from any PC to any PC in the office, it never freeze • based on above, I think this issue seems related to Windows 7 and VPN, for this issue only happened with VPN and after switching to Window 7 Maybe it also relates to other issues about hardware or software.
But I don't know where to troubleshoot. Can someone enlighten me about this issue? Related hardware/software info: Server: Windows server SBS 2003 (providing VPN service), HP Proliant DL180 G6 PC: DELL Optiplex 755 Modem: Linksys AG041 Router: Linksys RV042 Firewall: CheckPoint Safe@Office. First things i would do; 1) Run a constent ping from the client down the VPN to the RDC computer you are connecting to. Are you getting any packet loss? Or strange Ping Spikes and do they tie up with the disconnections? 2) Consider also you are now using a diff RDC client if you are using windows 7 then the client will be V7 (6.1.7600) If the VPN is not dropping then its possibly a setting or part of the new client thats causing the drop out. Try disabling as mean feature of the client as possible.
Audio (Which you mentioned) Visual Styles, Menu Animation etc. 3) Make sure that you are running the latest version of the client on the Windows 7 Systems as some of the older Win7 Clients had a few little bugs and.Net requirements which are not needed in the new version.
4) Check the event log on the RDC server and Client for any Errors/Warnings relating to RDC. Forgot to say, I had a message from another user on there who was having the same problem, who said: We've had the same issue for years.
I've tried to work it through with the TAC, but it's too intermittent to be able to be captured. The best guess I've had around it is that the connections table doesn't match connections to the VPN after a while, and once the connection is logged as being non-VPN, it doesn't drop out from the state table or gets rematched as non-VPN. One other case turned out to be fixable by lowering MTU settings, but I'm afraid I don't think there's an easy answer. You can try logging a TAC call, but don't get your hopes up. Tested jfletchster's suggestions: 1. Consistent ping result: I noticed that every a few minutes there would be one or a few packets having much longer return time than normal ones. Say, normal ping replies took 63ms, the Spike Pings took 135ms or even more.
While I was doing a consistent ping to the Win7 client, the RDC window works almost perfectly and had very rare chances to freeze. Download Lagu Payung Hitam New Pallapa Tasya. However, if I stopped the ping, then after a few minutes, the RDC windows would freeze. Then I tried to do consistent ping again, the ping still worked fine. After 10-20 seconds (ping keeping working) the RDC window would come back to alive. It is hard to identify what time exactly the RDC freezed. So I cannot tie it up with the Ping Spike at the moment.
I tested this on both Winxp and win7 to connect to remote win7 client. The Win7 PC both use lastest RDC V7 but the problem is still there. Tried to disable the audio, visual, perfermance stuff, but no luck with that. Oh, the Win7 PCs are both updated to SP1 5. Not everytime the freezing problem would generate an error log. But it did generate 2 error logs.
They are the error 56: the terminal server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client, client IP xxxxxx. I tried to search on google for this error code, however so far I have not found issues matching our case.
